Inequality in the post COVID-19 Context in Vietnam: An Assessment

Abstract: The present article provides an assessment of inequality in the post COVID- 19 context and socioeconomic recovery. It focuses on social protection, quality education and health care for vulnerable groups who have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic. Vietnam has exposed its weaknesses in managing the COVID-19 crisis and socio-economic shocks which are widening inequality and disparities persisted even before the pandemic occurred. It worsened the circumstances of those left behind and those with insecurities. The author maintained that inequality can be reduced with faster job creation, greater inclusive access to public goods and services, and more rapid increases in skill supply through quality education.
